◙ Located between Europe and Asia, being the commercial hub of the region, Iran is an excellent trading opportunity and it has a huge potential for attracting targeted visitors to the exhibition. ◙ The Middle East is among the world's fastest growing markets and especially great potential rests in Iran. With economic growth of 20% since 2002 and estimated future annual average growth of 8%, this country is definitely at the forefront for business; Growth rate in 2004 reached 30% and average annual growth doubled compared to that of 2002. ◙ By 2008, output of the glass industry will meet 1.15 million tones, which will make Iran the largest producer in the region. ◙ It is expected that the consumption of flat glass will grow 5 times, thanks to a boom in the flourishing construction and thriving automotive industries. ◙ Iran has huge natural resources: Fueled by high oil prices and high population growth, the construction boom in the region is contributing to the growth of several related industries including flat glass. ◙ Data found in the 2005 census indicates suggested a rapid growth by 1.5 % of total export trades in Iran. The total of 500 Million US$ accounted for imported glass machinery in 2005.The growth of this particular industry estimated by 28/% in 2007. |

◙ By 2007, glass production capacity is expected to reach over 1.15m. tpa, making Iran the number 1 producer in the region; ◙ Float glass consumption is estimated to triple due to the boom in construction and vehicle manufacturing: 1.25m vehicles will be made in 2005 and by mid-2008, 1,000,000 new houses are expected to be built; ◙ The Iranian government has instigated increases in expenditure which focus on non-oil exports and there is a considerable shift from public to private sector. ◙ Glass industry has been subject to persuasive measures such as tax exemption for manufacturers of machinery, and other glass products taken by the government of Iran for further development. ◙
The Iranian glass
industry comprises approximately more than 130 enterprises including 25
large and medium-sized companies. In 2005 the nominal
production capacity of flat glass estimated 960,000 tons annually and
operational capacity estimated 750,000 tons annually. In 2007 the
nominal production capacity estimated as 1,250,000 tons annually, and
operational production capacity estimated as 1 million tons annually.
